The Role of YSA Adult Advisors
Under the direction of a North America Southwest Area Authority, Geographic Home Stakes in the North America Southwest Area are to call one or more Married Adult Couples to serve as YSA Adult Advisors for their Geographic Stake Unit.
These couples serve as an important interface and link between the Geographic Stake and our YSA East Stake. Each Geographic Stake may in turn call additional YSA Adult Advisors at the Geographic Ward level to supplement the efforts of the Geographic Stake YSA Adult Advisors. These YSA Adult Advisors participate as representatives from the Geographic Stake in our YSA Stake and Ward activities and may participate in YSA Ward Leadership Meetings by invitation. We encourage all leaders to review the General Handbook of Instructions, Section 14 - Single Members.

YSA Adult Advisor couples serve as an important interface and link between the Geographic Stake and our YSA East Stake. Under the direction of priesthood key holders within the Geographic unit, they meet regularly with their Stake Presidency Leadership, Stake Relief Society Leadership, Ward Elders Quorum, and Relief Society Leaders in identifying YSA within the Geographic Unit. The new YSA ministering tools developed by the YSA East Stake and shared with 13 Geographic Stakes and their Wards are specifically designed to assist in identifying each young single adult’s areas of interest/need and can help our stake leaders provide an association through enhanced events and activities. These YSA Adult Advisors also work with ministering individuals assigned from the Geographic Unit to develop trusted connections and relationships.
The YSA Initiative Ministering Tools provides detailed instructions and orientation on using the tools in these efforts.

YSA Advisor Couples called within the Geographic Stakes and Wards are encouraged to be part of our YSA East Stake initiative efforts supplementing the efforts of YSA East Stake Advisors. There are four primary opportunities for the YSA Advisor Couples to integrate their efforts. They include Ministering Efforts, Institute & the Gathering, participation in YSA Stake Self-Reliance & Pathway efforts, and Communication of YSA East Stake opportunities for Young Single Adults.

Participate in councils with Geographic Stake Priesthood & Relief Society Leaders identifying YSA member participation & ministering needs
Encourage Geographic Stake YSA participation in the questionnaire
Council with Geographic Stake Priesthood Leaders at both the Stake & Ward levels regarding YSA needs
By invitation, meet with YSA Stake Ward Priesthood & Relief Society Leaders, and YSA Stake Ward Councils to identify YSA Stake resources.
Attend YSA Stake and Ward Activities
By invitation, minister to YSA Stake members as assigned
By invitation, provide mentorship to YSA Stake & Ward Leaders as appropriate

Encourage YSAs in the Geographic Stake member to participate in the gatherings
By invitation, encourage Stake YSA participation in the gatherings
Participate in Institute gathering activities – assisting Institute missionaries as appropriate
By invitation, participate as facilitators in the appropriate Institute Course offerings
As necessary, meet with Geographic Stake Priesthood & Relief Society Leaders, and Geographic Stake Ward Councils sharing the Institute's Gathering resources.

Using the YSA Ministering Tools, assist in identifying special interests or alternative topics to engage YSAs in both the YSA and Home stakes.
By invitation, participate as facilitators in Self-Reliance Course offerings
As necessary, meet with Geographic Stake Priesthood & Relief Society Leaders, and Geographic Stake Ward Councils sharing Self-Reliance / Pathway resources
Coordinate with BYUPathway missionaries to meet YSA needs

The new YSA ministering tools that have been rolled out within our Stake are designed to identify each young single adult’s areas of interest/need and can help our stake leaders provide an association through enhanced events and activities. It is vitally important that each member of our stake complete the questionnaire!
The program of Ministering helps us make sure all Church members have a friend they can lean on in times of need. Ministering helps us follow Jesus’s example of how to love our neighbor as ourselves. We visit each other, pray for each other, serve each other, and comfort each other. Ministering is learning about and attending to others’ needs. It is doing the Lord’s work. When we minister, we are representing Jesus Christ and acting as His agents to watch over, lift, and strengthen those around us.
